Borrow at most this to survive a fall
| Fall | Max loan | Your loan |
|---|
This covers Aave V3, one collateral and one debt, without E-Mode, and assumes the borrowed asset's price stays put, as a stablecoin's does. The amounts also stay within the market's loan-to-value limit, the most Aave lets you borrow today. For an existing position, the wallet checker shows the health factor Aave itself reports.
How the liquidation price is worked out
A loan can be liquidated when its health factor falls to 1. With one collateral and a stablecoin debt, that happens when the collateral's price falls to:
liquidation price = debt / (collateral amount x liquidation threshold)
With 10 ETH as collateral, an 83% liquidation threshold and $15,000 borrowed, that is 15,000 / (10 x 0.83), about $1,807 per ETH. At an ETH price of $3,000 the collateral can fall about 40% first.
The table turns the question around: for each fall, the most you could borrow today and still stay above that price. To survive a 30% fall in the example, borrow at most 10 x $3,000 x 0.7 x 0.83, about $17,430. Leaving a buffer like this is the simplest way to avoid liquidation. Liquidation price: quick answers
What is a liquidation price on Aave?
The collateral price at which a loan's health factor reaches 1. At or below it, anyone can repay part of the debt and take some of the collateral at a discount.
How do I lower my liquidation price?
Repay part of the loan or add collateral. Either one moves the liquidation price down, away from today's price.
How much can I borrow without being liquidated?
That depends on how far you expect prices to fall. Pick a fall in the table above to see the most you could borrow and still stay safe at that price.
Does the liquidation price change if I borrow ETH instead of a stablecoin?
Yes. When the debt's price moves too, what matters is the price of the collateral against the debt. This calculator assumes the debt keeps its price, as a stablecoin does.
