Aave utilization rates
Utilization is the share of an asset's supply that is currently lent out. It is the number that drives Aave's interest rates: the higher it goes, the more borrowers pay and the more suppliers earn, and past a certain point rates climb steeply. Why utilization matters
Each asset on Aave has a target utilization, often between 80% and 94%. Below the target, the borrow rate rises gently. Above it, the rate rises steeply to pull in new supply and push borrowers to repay, which also means withdrawals can briefly be hard because little is left in the pool. That is why a loan can suddenly cost much more for a few minutes. Read how Aave interest rates work and why the average rate differs from the current rate.
